Good morning folks,

Welcome to Naples Campground.

I want to take this opportunity to wish all the kids "best of luck" in this upcoming school year. I know a lot of you will be driving your kids to college and finishing up school shopping this weekend. It’s that time of year again! Enjoy it while you can. As I know, it goes way too fast. Our youngest daughter will be a senior in high school this year. She’s talking about going on to college in the medical field. I’m scared! Life was much simpler when they were younger. Good for her and good for all you kids that dream big and reach for the stars. Go for it!

We will try something different this week. Make Your Own Pizza - Bob will roll out individual pizza crusts. The kids will be invited to make their pizza with any topping they want. Parents are invited to help out. I think this will be fun and educational. Who knows, we might find a baker in the bunch.

Itinerary:

Friday:

4 p.m. Hay Ride - Dry for today, WET tomorrow when more folks are in.

5 p.m. Make Your Own Pizza - all kids are invited to come to the Store and make their special pizza. Bob will have individual sized shells rolled out with all the toppings. Parents are invited to help out, especially with the younger kids. Delicious!

7 p.m. Kids Movie Night at the Rec Hall - we supply the popcorn.

Saturday:

10 a.m. Arts and Crafts at the Rec Hall with Pam

11 a.m. Candy Bar Bingo - Bring a candy bar to get in and maybe win a bunch to take home.

1:30 p.m. Horseshoe Tournament at Playground #2 Please sign up the Office ahead of time so we know how many teams to set up for. John Emery has volunteered to run this tournament.

4 p.m. Wet Hay Ride - Last weekend was too cold for a wet hay ride. We didn’t want the kids to catch cold. Boy, did I take a beating! All the kids were upset. This weekend has to be nice and warm for a wet hay ride. For those of you who don’t know, we supply buckets of water on the trailer for kids to load their squirt guns. As we drive around, the kids squirt their parents. In return, the parents use the hose from their trailer to spray the kids as we drive by. The more people get involved, the more fun it is for the kids. It’s all about the kids!

8 to 10:30 p.m.: Music, Card Games, Left Right Center, in the Rec Hall. Perfect place to gather, have fun and make new friends.

A note from my Mom:   Many heartfelt thanks to Pam and Con and their Naples Campground "family" for the love and caring given to me in celebration of my birthday. The fond memories will live in my heart forever more. God bless you all! Lucille (alias - Mama Con)

Birthdays and Anniversaries:

My informants must be on vacation this week. All I have is a belated birthday wish to Anita Higgins, August 16, Hope it was happy.

Firewood,

As you may have noticed, we received another shipment of firewood. We are preparing for fall camping. There is nothing like sitting by the campfire on these cool nights. No one beats our price on firewood. All our firewood is a blend of hard and soft woods that has been seasoned for two years. The dryer the wood, the less it sparks and the easier it lights. A 1' X 2' is only $5. It’s the size of two bundles you get from the store. A 2' X 2' is only $10 - we deliver to your site.  Enjoy!

Horseshoe Tournament:

There will be a Horseshoe Tournament this Saturday at Playground #2 at 1:30 pm. You can sign up at the office. Teams will be drawn at 1:30 p.m. See you there!

Propane:

Our propane fill station is up and running. We are licensed and ready to go. The reason we chose to offer a propane filling station is to save you money. Currently, we have a swap program with Blue Rhino. I was shocked to find out that all swap tanks only have 17 pounds of propane in a 20 pound tank. That’s 15% less gas than what you bargained for. With us, you get a full tank, 20 pounds for less money than a swap tank by cutting out the middleman. We also fill the 30 pounders for your camper. Your cost is $16.50 for a 20-pound tank and $22.50 for the 30-pound tank. Please bring your tanks to the Store to be filled. Another value added service from your friends at Naples Campground.

Security:

We have 4 patrolmen on security on weekends. It is clearly stated in the Rules: 10:30 to 11, start toning things down. 11 p.m. Quiet Time - period. No music, no loud voices, no walking around unless you are going to or from the bathrooms. You can sit around your campfire all night if you wish but you and your guest MUST be QUIET. Thanks for your consideration.

Coming Up:

Next weekend, Labor Day weekend, we have another Potluck Dinner. The theme "Your Favorite Dish". This should be interesting. We need appetizers, entrées, salads and desserts. Please call the Office to let us know what you will be bringing. We’ll try to make suggestions to fill in the gaps. Our potlucks are usually very well attended. It’s a great time to get together and meet new folks. Plus, you get to try a variety of different recipes. The rule of thumb is: if you are coming with two people, make your dish to feed two people. If you are coming with five people, bring a bigger dish. This way, there is enough food to go around without running out. As always, if you decide not to bring a dish, you may still participate by making a donation at the Office to cover the paper and plastic ware and other costs. It’s all good! The band this weekend is back by popular demand: The Easy Money Band - guaranteed to please.

Saturday, September 8 - We are planning a Lobster Bake. The menu will consist of a 1¼ pound lobster, steamers and corn on the cob. Extra lobsters are available. We need a count. Tickets will be sold before hand. We will order the exact number we sell. I will be getting them at "boat price" right off the docks. I have no idea what the rate will be in September. Today, it’s about $5.25 per pound. That makes them about $7 to $8 each. With the steamers, corn and butter, I’m guessing the cost to be about $15 to $18 per plate. That’s really not a bad price. You can’t order an entrée at a restaurant for less than $15, that’s for chicken not lobster. Please call in advance to place your order. We will also have hamburgers, hot dogs and chicken for the kids if they don’t want lobster.

September 15 - We are setting up for Halloween the following weekend. Just a heads up. Many of you already have decorations. If you need more, you have a couple weeks to get ready. Don’t buy pumpkins elsewhere. As we’ve done the past couple years, we will buy a pallet of pumpkins from Gillespie Farms and offer them to you at a very reasonable cost. Use them here to decorate then bring them home to decorate there. It’s all good!

Thanks for sharing your vacation time with us. We are grateful for your patronage. Have a great week.

Your Hosts,

Pam & Con
