Welcome folks to Naples Campground.
Here we are, Labor Day weekend. It’s like a double edge sword. We love to see Labor Day. The holiday, the festivities, the anticipation of a great weekend. The flip side, it also marks the end of summer. Kids go back to school, attention is now devoted to school sports instead of vacationing and camping. Don’t think for one minute that the camping season is over! I believe your best camping is from now through October. The oppressive humidity is all but over. The days are beautiful and the nights are cool where you can actually enjoy a campfire. Before long, the trees will start turning color to add the most spectacular beauty to the landscape. That’s why we live in Maine!
Now, for a little plug, we still have three sites available for our "5 week Special". Camp here from Labor Day to October 8 (5 weeks) for only $250 plus tax and electric. It’s a great deal for you to "try us out" without a lot on the line. For those of you who travel midweek, you can stay here Sunday through Thursday for only $18 per night. That’s half the price! You can’t beat that. Call us for a weekend getaway. We’ll work something out. My goal is to fill all the sites in the off-season.
As most of you know, we’ve purchased the vacant land adjacent to the campground. We are diligently putting together a plan to make Naples Campground "the best" campground you’ve ever visited. We are planning to add tennis courts, an athletic field for softball and volleyball, mini golf, etc. We are looking for ideas, different things you’ve seen at other campgrounds or theme parks that we could incorporate in our plans to make this campground spectacular.
Seasonal Campers:
To all our Seasonal Campers, your 2008 contracts are ready. We will be by to drop them off or you can pick them up at the Office. Please fill them out and return them ASAP so I can get them on the computer. If you will not be returning next season, please let us know this weekend so we can fill your site. I know it’s inevitable. We have such a great group of folks that camp here that it’s hard to see anyone leave. Life dictates change. Thank you all for a great season and for all the new friendships we’ve made. As we are gearing up for the fall season, our thoughts are already focusing on 2008. It’s like walking a tight rope. We want to offer amenities that make Naples Campground your best value in camping and also cover the mortgage and pay our bills. That’s the tricky part.
Itinerary:
Friday:
6:30 p.m. - Movie Night in the Rec Hall
8 p.m. Games and Music in the Rec Hall
Saturday:
10 a.m. - Arts and Crafts
11 a.m. - Candy Bar Bingo
1:30 p.m. - Horseshoes - pick teams and play a few games.
4 p.m. - Wet Hay Ride - This is not your ordinary hayride. We supply buckets of water on the trailer for kids to load their squirt guns. As we drive around, the kids squirt their parents. In return, the parents use the hose from their trailer to spray the kids as we drive by. The more people get involved, the more fun it is for the kids. It’s all about the kids!
6 p.m. - Adult Bingo
7:45 to 10:30 - Dance to the Easy Money Band. Steve and his group have been here many times because they are good! Bring your family to the Rec Hall and enjoy an evening of laughter and dance.
Sunday:
10 a.m. - Arts and Crafts
11 a.m. - Candy Bar Bingo
1:30 p.m. - Kids Tournament - See Jeannine add playground #1
4 p.m. - Wet Hay Ride
6 p.m. - Potluck Dinner - "Your Favorite Dish" theme - Here’s the scoop: if you are coming to the potluck dinner with a total of two people, bring enough food to feed two people. Most people bring a nice casserole or a couple deserts. So far, it has worked out really good. And, we’ve had 90 to 100 people attend our potlucks! That’s fantastic.
If you don’t know what to bring here’s a few ideas:
Casseroles - Pasta - Baked Beans - Corn on the Cob - Veggie Platter - Fruit Platter - Deserts - Jambalaya
Feel free to be creative - we love trying new things!
Anniversaries:
Ted and Dale Lauten, 16 years of wedded bliss! Congratulations
Bob’s Kitchen:
Check out the daily specials. Bob is always cooking up something different. A couple things worth mentioning: Bob makes his own Italian sandwich rolls. You’ve got to try an Italian sandwich on his fresh bread. We have Sausage Grinders on special made with Bob’s homemade bread. Second suggestion: if you like Whoopie Pies, my personal opinion, Bob makes THE best. We haven’t even talked about his Pizza. Everyone knows Bob makes the best pizza in town.
We are really fortunate to have Bob in our kitchen!
Jackets are in. If you’ve ordered a jacket, please pick them up at the Office.
Inventory Reduction: 15% off all sweatshirts and T-shirts. While they last.
Housekeeping:
Please read the Rules and Regulations and familiarize yourself with:
No glass or pets in the pool area. Use swim diapers on all kids 2 years or younger.
Speed Limit 5 MPH. Please go SLOW. We can’t afford to lose any of our kids. Think about it.
Pets: Please pick up after your pets. Most campgrounds either don’t allow pets or they charge for them. Please review our Pet Policy so everyone has a great weekend.
